Competitive Audit

I conducted a competitive audit on 5 competitors- 2 direct competitors and 3 indirect competitors. The audit focused on the competitor’s listings of volunteer opportunities and if it offers search filters by location. The audit revealed most competitors did not offer an easy way to search for opportunities by location or interest. All of them offered volunteer information but most were for large non-profit organizations and very few for smaller, community-focused projects.

Usability Study

After testing wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes, I conducted 3 separate unmoderated usability studies with 5 users. They were comprised of 3 men and 2 women between the ages of 16 and 74. The studies tested the usability of the mobile app’s sign in process, ease of creating a new campaign, and ease of joining an existing campaign.

The prototype was refined to address several user pain points and adding a few navigational features so users could easily complete the flows.

Accessibility Considerations

To ensure our app is accessible, I included users of assistive technologies such as screen readers and members of minority groups in all the stages of the design cycle. I took their needs and feedback into consideration to provide an inclusive experience.
